Twilio “Undelivered – Unregistered Number” Error
Situation: Getting “Undelivered” as an error in the message logs. Says “unregistered” number. A campaign is created and approved, but not sending.
First, identify what Messaging service is associated with the campaign you are troubleshooting. Go to Messages–>Regulatory Compliance–>Campaigns.
The Service is associated with this Sid number.
See the Sid number in the Messages–>Services
It will show the Services made. Generally there is a service in there from the initial registration process. If there isn’t a service here, you can add one with the button “Create Messaging Service”.
Change the service name to something you understand. The example says “Use for Text Messaging Guests”. To do this, click on the service’s name. You want to be in the “Properties” section. Update the Messaging Service Name and Save.
It now looks like this.
Now add the phone number you purchased. Click into the service. Go to “Sender Pool”. If there are no numbers associate with the service, choose button “Add Senders”.
A pop up shows up. Choose “Phone Number”. Hit “Continue”.
Choose the number you want to use to send text messages in Lodgical. Click “Add Phone Numbers”.
That number will show on the page “Sender Pool”.
This is the full line of what is shown on the Sender Pool section. Note, there is a Remove option at the end of it.
If you ever update your number, or you have several campaigns going and you want this number to be associated with a different campaign, you can hit “Remove” and the number will be available to assign to a different service and campaign.
Note: The main situation we’ve found with needing to remove a number is that accidentally creating multiple services during the campaign creation process, resulting in the service associated with the campaign to not have the number associate with it. Double check the service ID associated on the campaign.
